20 Years in Print: The Art of Ron Liberti art exhibit will be opening this evening, Friday July 29th and will run through September 30th at The Ackland Art Museum Store’s gallery space located at 100 E. Franklin Suite 100, Chapel Hill, NC 27514.

Spanning over 20 years, Ron Liberti created fantastic artwork to promote local musicians, film and art openings, as well as posters for Liberti’s own bands. Inspired by the local scene, Ron Liberti’s artwork of 100 original posters, silkscreened posters, large mono prints, a limited addition portfolio of black & white photocopied posters, hand silkscreened textiles, CDs/LPs, and silkscreened tee shirts will be on exhibit.

Liberti studied fine arts and film at Montclair State University in his native home of New Jersey, and printmaking at Brighton Polytechnic in Brighton U.K. He came to Chapel Hill in 1991 to visit a friend and began producing posters for bands and artists such as Tift Merritt and Superchunk and has become a celebrated artist of the local music, film and art community. His work has been published in Clay Harris’ “Gig Posters” and in John Foster’s “New Masters of Poster Design: Poster Design for the Next Century”. He was recently interviewed on WUNC’s “The State of Things”.

There is limited space for the opening reception this evening from 7:00-9:00 PM which will feature music by Billy Sugarfix; call the Store at 962-0216 to RSVP.
